Kern County Sheriff's Office warns community of possible phone scammer

Posted
and last updated

The Kern County Sheriff's Office is warning the community about a possible phone scam involving someone who is misidentifying himself as being a Sheriff's Office employee.

Residents have told KCSO that the caller is telling residents they missed jury duty and now owe a fee. The caller is telling residents that they owe $3,000, but if they pay the fee that day then they only have to pay $1,000.

The Sheriff's Office is currently investigating, but reminds the public to never give personal information to an unknown caller.

If you have more information, or receive a similar call you are urged to report it to the Sheriff's Office at (661) 861-3110.
