'Community Partners in Education' is a partnership between the Bakersfield City School District and local community leaders.

Together they are hoping to give our students get the best education possible.

“We really believe it takes a village because the school can only do so much,” said Emerson Middle School principal, Kempton Coman.

Maria Teresa Herrera is not only a partner but a mother as well.

Four of her children attended Emerson Middle School

She said it is important that children receive education that leads to success. Adding that, “the goal is that every single child gets the education that they deserve.”

Accompanied by students, partners also toured the campus and visited classrooms at Emerson Middle School.

Giving them the chance to talk to teachers about how they can achieve the goals they have set.
