Local veterans are receiving relief from PTSD through scuba diving lessons.Aqua-Nut Divers organized free scuba training for veterans. Donations come from members of Aqua-Nut and from Bakersfield Scuba. This keeps the cost to train down. Instructors also donate their time to give these lessons for free.

This is the first year vets have had a class specific for them and organizers say they hope to make this a yearly class. Vets with both mental and physical disabilities are welcome. This year, there were no participants with physical disabilities, however, organizers say they have the capabilities to teach anyone; from blind people to people in wheelchairs. While the veteran-specific class has passed, all other classes hosted by Bakersfield Scuba have the capabilities to teach people with physical disabilities as well.

Any local veteran who would like to participate should contact Eric Schimon at eric@aqua-nut.com.
