With mail theft on the rise, the U.S. Postal Service is making some changes. Community mailboxes in Northwest Bakersfield are being replaced, according to residents.

Residents in Northwest Bakersfield have found their mailboxes wide open in the past, with everything stolen.

USPS is now replacing mailboxes instead of repairing them or changing locks.
