A student at Bakersfield College observed what seemed to be a sexual assault on campus and notified officials, leading to the arrest of the suspect Thursday.

The student contacted a faculty member after seeing a suspicious black male in the women’s restroom with a possible victim.

Public Safety was called and arrived as the sexual assault was in progress. The suspect was taken into custody.

There is no continuing threat to the college community. BPD has taken over the investigation.
