Misdemeanor charges were filed Friday by the Kern County District Attorney’s Office in a hate crime incident that happened September 30.
Allegedly, defendant David Hook threw liquid on another individual in the parking lot of some restaurants on California Ave. because he appeared to be a different religion or race.
One count of interference with exercise of a civil right and one count of battery were filed.
The defendant could face up to one year in jail and a fine if convicted.
An arraignment date has not been set.
