New information about a school district employee in Eastern Kern County, accused of having sex with children.

Beth Sparks-Jacques couldn't believe an employee with the Muroc Unified School District had been arrested for allegedly having sex with minors.

She has two granddaughters who attend schools within the district and says more parents need to be aware of these allegations.

"He's working at a school where he has access to minors. Who knows if there are other minors that this could have happened to and have not come forward," she said.

According to court documents, 21-year-old Jeremy Rogers Junior was arrested and charged with two counts of sex abuse in two different cases involving underage victims.

23ABC was able to obtain detailed information on one of the cases.

According to one of the documents, a 14-year-old befriended Rogers on Facebook - where they messaged and agreed to meet up for sex.

The incident was reported to the Kern County Sheriff's Office on April 28th. Rogers was arrested on May 6th.

"If this had been notified to other people, to the parents, maybe we could questions our children, our grandchildren and open a dialog with them about what has happened," said Sparks-Jacques.

We reached out to the district's superintendent, Dr. Michael McCoy, who in a statement told us they were notified of the arrest last Friday and have sent letters to parents this week.

The statement also said they immediately placed Rogers on unpaid leave, but he has since resigned.

Spark-Jacques said she hopes the district can implement policies to let parents know of any misconduct right away.

"If there's any circumstances against an employee, that they would let parents know," she said.

Rogers is due back in court in June.
