The City of Bakersfield is advising the public to avoid the intersection of Fairfax Road and College Avenue after a 12-foot sinkhole opened up in the roadway.

Crews are expected to start repairs soon, but there is no estimated time that the street will re-open.

Drivers are recommended the avoid the area.
