Officials release details on July 2nd shooting on McNew Court in Bakersfield

On July 2nd, 2016 at about 1:20 am, Kern County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a report of a victim of a shooting in the 1100 block of McNew Ct. in east Bakersfield.

While deputies were responding, officers with the Bakersfield Police Department stopped a vehicle driving erratically in the 600 block of Martin Luther King Blvd. The officers discovered an adult male victim in the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The vehicle had been in route to Kern Medical Center when it was stopped. BPD officers requested medical aid, and an ambulance transported the victim to KMC.

It was later determined the victim in the vehicle had been shot in the 1100 block of McNew Ct. just prior to the vehicle been stopped. Deputies investigated the shooting, however no suspects or a motive has been determined at this point in the investigation. The victim sustained moderate injuries.
