An Oildale convenience store is tired of being broken into after it was burglarized twice in two months.

Early Tuesday morning, at the Speedway Market on James Road near McCray Street, three men threw boulders through the window.

The three climbed in through the window without hesitation and headed straight to the store counter, but the they weren't looking for cash.

Instead, they went straight for the cigarettes.

"They get these big boulder rocks and they throw them through the window and they go straight for the tobacco," Tasha Johnston, a cashier at the market said.

The thieves got away with an estimated $300 worth of cigarettes. The near basketball-sized boulders were still in the store for employees to clean up Tuesday morning.

"Frustrating. Very, very frustrating," Johnston said.

This is the second time in two months the store has been hit by burglars and the employees want it to stop.

"The owners work hard to keep the store running, and we work hard so that we can take care of the customers and then somebody comes in and does that," Johnston said.

In the meantime, the crew has boarded up the window and it's back to business as usual.

The staff, fed up with the recent break-ins, had a message for the burglars, "Get a job. Quit destroying other people's property because you wouldn't want yours destroyed."

The burglary was reported to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with information about who broke into the Speedway Market is asked to contact KCSO at 861-3110.
