Bicyclist killed in crash with vehicle on Monday, California City PD investigating collision

On Monday, October 17, 2016 at 10:43 a.m., officers from the California City Police Department responded to a vehicle-bicycle traffic collision at the intersection of Neuralia Road and Poppy Boulevard.

CCPD officers were on scene in two minutes and began life saving efforts for the rider of the bicycle.

Advanced Life Support (ALS) units arrived soon after, consisting of the California Fire Department, Hall’s Ambulance and Mercy Air 14 from Mojave. After several minutes of life saving efforts, the rider of the bicycle succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The identification of the bicyclist will be made by the Kern County Coroner’s Office, pending notification of next of kin.

The California City Police Department is currently investigating this collision and alcohol and or drugs are not a factor.
