Several runners had Boston Marathon 2018 qualifying times and will wait to find out whether they are selected or not.

More than 1,800 runners participated in the inaugural marathon, half-marathon and 5K events.

Second place overall honors went to 29 year-old Ryan Lucker with a finish time of 2:51:29.

Lucker is also a teacher and cross country coach at South High.

Event organizers say the tentative date of November 12 is set for the 2017 Bakersfield Marathon, hoping registration will be available by April.
