Patrick Terrel received a life-sentence in the death of his mother's roommate.

Officials said Clara Basta and Terrel's mother, Victoria Terrel, had been long time friends who resided together in the 4200 block of Kilkenny Court.

Fifty-six-year-old Basta was found dead in the garage of her home on Sept. 7, 2013 after a fire broke out in the home.

Police said Patrick Terrel did not reside at the home on Kilkenny Ct. and never had.

Patrick Terrel was arrested on September 9, 2013, for a probation violation.

He had been in custody since that time for the probation violation. Detectives had interviewed numerous individuals who have knowledge about the events surrounding this offense.

Those interviews coupled with analysis of the physical evidence seized in this case led to probable cause to arrest Patrick Terrel for the murder of Clara Basta.
