UPDATE 8/3 -- Popeyes reopened on Thursday after being closed the day before due to improper refrigeration.

The Kern County Public Health Department closed the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen located on White Lane near H Street in South Bakersfield.

Hazardous food being held on ice inside a walk-in refrigerator with a temperature being held at 70 degree, according to Kern County Public Health.

Several different pieces of raw chicken with an internal temperature of 46-60 degrees, above the proper food handling of 41 degrees, were also found, a public health official said.

The Kern County Public Health Department said they rely on tips from the community for restaurants not complying with standards.

It is unknown when the Popeyes will reopen.
