Bakersfield Fire crews are responding to Northwest Bakersfield after reports that a woman was hit by a car and ended up in the Kern River on Thursday afternoon.

Initial reports indicate the woman was in the area on the bridge when she was hit.

On arrival, firefighters found a woman wading in waist-deep west of Coffee Road. The victim followed requests by BFD and BPD and was medically evaluated on shore. The patient was transported to a hospital.
