Three teenagers were shot at in Pioneer Park in East Bakersfield Wednesday evening, according to KCSO.

The teens were hanging out next to a car by the park when another car drove up and began shooting with what officials believe was a shot gun, according to KCSO.

Wesley Davis is the president of the Wendale Davis Foundation, named after his son was killed due to gun violence.

He says every time he hears of these violent crimes, he is reminded of his own story and then his heart goes out to the parents.

The foundation provides mentoring, substance abuse and gang intervention. However Davis says he has seen gun violence become worse in Kern County.

"Our efforts have not been good enough, I believe it has gotten worse. I don't know the reason but I do believe there are some things that we need to come back to the table and talk about."

There is currently one known suspect. There was no apparent confrontation before the incident, but deputies are investigating.

All teens who were injured in the shooting last night are expected to survive. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
