Sheriff Donny Youngblood has made his intentions clear after attending a Board of Supervisors meeting – Kern County will not be a sanctuary county, even if he has to go against everyone alone.

During another meeting Tuesday, he stated he will fight to keep the county free of sanctuary status.

The controversial California Bill, SB 54, passed in the Senate about a month ago. With the possibility that it will be passed by the Assembly, Sheriff Youngblood is making preparations.

KCSO sent out a list of people they released from custody in April that were detained by ICE, saying some of these people could have potentially been in the community again were SB 54 in place already.

The bill would prohibit ICE from entering jails.
