A local mother is outraged after a thief stole a Christmas present from her family’s doorstep.

Surveillance video captured the moment a man walked up to their porch and made off with a package containing a pillow used to help her 9-year-old disabled son.

It happened Thursday morning around 11 a.m. near Harris and New Stine roads in southwest Bakersfield.

April Hylton showed 23ABC’s Feven Kay the surveillance video.

Video captured a FedEx driver delivering the package at 10:54 a.m. then just seven minutes later you see the thief stealing the package from the front door step, even smirking at the camera on the doorbell.

Inside the package was a pillow her 9-year-old disabled son needs.

Corte was born with cerebral palsy, a rare condition of epilepsy, and an unknown heart condition.

We first met court in back in august when he spent a day with the Bakersfield Police Department. His wish is to one day work in law enforcement.

Hilton’s grandmother was hoping to surprise court with the special pillow Christmas morning.

“We just want our pillow back. It’s just a pillow. I don’t need his name, i just want it on my front porch,” said Hylton.

A reminder to our viewers that if you are expecting an important package – to use a signature confirmation, have it delivered to your workplace or make arrangements to pick it up at your local post office.

If anyone would like to help, Corte's family asks the public to purchase a regular pillow or two dollar fleece blanket and donate it to the Bakersfield Homeless Center's "Corte Smiles" charity.
