The Tehachapi Police Department participated in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day event on October 28, 2017. The event is aimed at providing a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing prescription drugs. 

During the collection event, the Tehachapi Police Department collected 160.3 pounds of prescription drugs that were either unused, or unwanted. 

On April 29, 2017 during TPD's semi-annual prescription drug take-back day, the department was able to collect 251.6 pounds of prescription drugs. After the most recent collection event, the total number of pounds of prescription drugs and medications came to 411.9 pounds collected in 2017.
