On October 25, Tehachapi police stopped a man for violating vehicle codes and, in the process, recovered a stolen gun and large amounts of meth.

During the stop, police learned that the passenger, 23-year-old Steven Orozco, was on probation for narcotics sales and had an extensive criminal history of narcotics and firearm-related offenses.

Officers then executed a search of his residence on Golden Hills Boulevard, north of West Valley Boulevard, and found a pound and half of meth and a stolen 40-caliber pistol.

The estimated street value of the meth is $56,000.

Orozco was arrested for numerous felony narcotics and firearms charges and was additionally charged with selling narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school.
