The California Highway Patrol has identified the two men killed in the crash on Alfred Harrell Highway and Goodmanville Road as Marvin Palma, 27, and Francis Lopez, 25, of Bakersfield. 

Officials said just after 4:30 p.m. officers responded to a crash in the area. Officials say the Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on Alfred Harrell Highway at approximated 70 miles per hour. 

Officials said for unknown reasons, the driver swerved to the left, went into the center median and struck the metal guardrail.

Palma, the driver, and Lopez, the passenger, both died from their injuries. 

Officials said two good samaritans pulled two juveniles from the back seat of the car, they were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. 

Officials said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision. The crash is still under investigation.
