A Ugandan police officer of 30 years received a donated prosthesis on December 8.

Presented by the Valley Institute of Prosthetics and Orthotics (VIPO), the prosthesis is for use in Uganda while on active duty with the police department.

Senior Commander of Police Edyegu Richard Caprix suffered his amputation in Uganda after stepping on a land mine 30 years ago.  In 2002, he came to Kern County to have a prosthesis made by then-owner of VIPO, Barry Townsend.

14 years later, Edyegu received his prosthesis along with donated food and accommodations.
