A woman has been arrested after deputies received reports of a homicide in Twin Oaks on Sunday.

Cori Cotton, 33, was involved in an argument with another female on March 28, 2017 on a property in the area of Back Canyon Road and Caliente Creek Road.

During the argument, Cotton shot the female at least one time. Cotton’s boyfriend, 56-year-old Bret Stroud was there with another male who was the victim’s boyfriend.

Cotton began shooting at the victim’s boyfriend immediately after shooting the victim, but he escaped uninjured.

On Tuesday, detectives served a search warrant on the property and found Cotton and Stroud at the residence, where they were arrested. Multiple firearms were located, however the victim was not.

A complete search of the rural property in the late evening revealed a possible recent grave site.

On Wednesday, detectives responded to the grave site and located a female buried in a shallow grave.

The Coroner’s Office took the female victim and an autopsy will be completed at a later time to determine the cause and manner of death.  The victim has been tentatively identified, however her identity will be release at a later time by the Coroner’s Office.

Cotton was arrested for one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Stroud was arrested for multiple weapons violations and being an accessory to murder. His bail has been set at $75,000.
