Threat put Washington Middle School on lockdown

Washington Middle School was placed on a brief lockdown after a bomb threat was called into the school, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. 

The call came in around 11:25a.m., officials said the voice was non-identifiable as a man or a woman and sounded more like an automated machine. 

Noble Elementary School was also placed on lock down because of its proximity to Washington Middle School.

BPD searched the school with the help of the K-9 Unit and the lockdown was lifted around and both schools were taken off lock down at 12:48p.m. 

Schools across the US have been placed on lockdown or evacuated after receiving similar calls. Multiple schools from New Hampshire to California received similar calls. 

Anyone with information about the threat to Washington Middle School is asked to call BPD at 327-7111.
