Officials with the Bakersfield Police Department held a press conference at 11 a.m. regarding the plea deal taken by a former BPD detective who was featured in the Disney movie McFarland USA with Kevin Costner.

Damacio Diaz, 43, was arrested on November 20, 2015 and charged with abusing his position of trust as a police detective when he conspired with and assisted a narcotics dealer in the operation of the dealer’s drug organization.

In federal court documents obtained by 23ABC, Diaz, will plead guilty to bribery, possession of meth, and making a false tax return.

He's due in a federal courtroom next Tuesday afternoon.

Chief Greg Williamson said that there will probably be another indictment from the US Attorney's Office from a BPD officer who recently retired.
