West High School honored junior Daren Richardson on October 21. Richardson has been battling cancer and had not been able to be at school in almost a year.

A West High School junior passed away Tuesday night after battling cancer.
Daren Richardson, 17, had osteosarcoma, a bone cancer that attacks the bone marrow and is usually found in children and young adults.
Richardson was a member of the West High School band.
