IRVINE, Calif. -- A teenage driver who was at the wheel during a fiery freeway crash in Orange County last year that killed his five passengers has been charged with vehicular manslaughter.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Bradley Morales was booked Friday on five counts of manslaughter

Cooper, who was 16 when the BMW he was driving careened off a freeway in Irvine, was also charged with driving without a license and failure to show proof of insurance.

He is being held at the Orange County Juvenile Detention Center.

Authorities say he and his teenage friends were returning from the Knott's Berry Farm amusement park early on the morning of Oct. 4, 2014, when the car crashed and burst into flames.

Cooper, who suffered a head injury, was the only survivor.
