On a night that could have seen the final game played at Sam Lynn Ballpark the Bakersfield Blaze beat the San Jose Giants 5-3 to win the series 2-1. The team moves on to face the Visalia Rawhide in the North Division Championship in a best of 5 series that begins Saturday night.

It was the second straight night the team, and Sam Lynn, faced elimination. Thursday night the Blaze beat the Giants 7-1 to force a deciding game 3.

Friday night the offense didn't get going until late. Joe Decarlo accounted for the team's first two runs with a two run shot in the fifth that gave Bakersfield a 2-1 lead.

But the Giants would battle back and score two of their own in the sixth to knot the game at 3. Jay Baum's solo home run in the bottom half of that inning was enough though as the Blaze went on to win 5-3.

The first two games of their upcoming series will be on the road in Visalia meaning there is guarunteed to be at least one more game played at Sam Lynn. First pitch in that one schedule for Monday night at 7:15.
