In the 1980s, Pound Puppies were one of the hottest toys on the market. If you remember these adorable stuffed pooches from your childhood, you’ll be glad to learn that they’re making a comeback.

These plush pups are authentic reproductions of the original toys from the 1980s, made by Basic Fun! with a license from Hasbro, and they’re just as adorable as you remember.

A Pound Puppy would make for a great Valentine’s Day treat or addition tokids’ Easter baskets this year. Not only are the toys adorable and fun to cuddle, but they can also help teach kids about the value of pet adoption.

In fact, @myfamilywanders posted a photo of their kiddos holding Pound Puppies for National Mutt Day on Instagram to show they’re doing just that.

As you can see, they even have the heart on the rump, just like the originals!

Right now you can snag these throwback plush toys from Amazon and Walmart. At Amazon, a 17-inch Pound Puppy is $19.97.

Each Pound Puppy comes with an adoption certificate, name tag and sticker sheet. There are six total puppies in the collection.

In addition to the six classic Puppies, there are also six Puppy Newborns. According to the product description, these tiny pups are “soft, fuzzy babies who need someone to adopt them and take care of them. They like to be held close and give lots of love & hugs!” The newborns even come wearing a diaper. Too cute!

The instructions that come with the Pound Puppies help kids learn about caring for pets, with tips about how to make sure your pup gets lots of love. If you have a little one who would love a real dog but isn’t quite ready for all that caring for a pet entails, a Pound Puppy can be a great introduction to the responsibility that comes with pet ownership.

Pound Puppies are not the only throwback toys making a comeback. Micro Machines are also slated to hit the toy market in 2020 as well. These miniature toy cars will be relaunched by Hasbro and Wicked Cool Toys.

“Considering the recent toy unboxing trends, the brand’s multigenerational appeal, and the vehicle category’s ripeness for something ‘new’ again, we believe Micro Machines will be a global phenomenon,” Jeremy Padawer, Wicked Cool Toys co-president, said in astatement.
