The California Highway Patrol's Bakersfield office has been busy over the weekend.

The CHP's maximum enforcement period began Friday and is scheduled to go through 11:59 p.m. Tuesday.

So far, the CHP's Bakersfield office has made 38 arrests since the MEP started on Friday.

According to the CHP, across California 40 people were killed during the New Year's MEP. There were 936 arrests made during that same time frame.
