ARVIN, Calif. — While it's important to check your child's candy, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, tampered candy is not the biggest Halloween hazard.

To enjoy the Halloween festivities there are some helpful tips on how trick-or-treaters, parents and drivers can safely have fun.

Chief Scot E. Kimble of the Arvin Police Department recommends that at least one adult accompanies the trick-or-treaters on Halloween night.

As well as wearing reflective costumes, bringing a flashlight or glow sticks.

In partnership with Assemblyman Rudy Salas, the Arvin Police Department will host its first annual Cops & Candy Fall Festival.

The event is from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and it will be held at the Arvin City Hall at 200 Campus Drive in Arvin.
