ARVIN, Calif. — While it's important to check your child's candy, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics , tampered candy is not the biggest Halloween hazard.

To enjoy the Halloween festivities there are some helpful tips on how trick-or-treaters, parents and drivers can safely have fun.

Chief Scot E. Kimble of the Arvin Police Department recommends that at least one adult accompanies the trick-or-treaters on Halloween night.

As well as wearing reflective costumes, bringing a flashlight or glow sticks.

In partnership with Assemblyman Rudy Salas, the Arvin Police Department will host its first annual Cops & Candy Fall Festival.

The event is from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and it will be held at the Arvin City Hall at 200 Campus Drive in Arvin.
