BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — In a surprise donation, the Honor Flight of Kern County received $100,000 cash from the Eagle Mountain Casino.

According to the organization the money will cover their flight costs from Eagle Mountain Casino.

On Thursday, Eagle Mountain Casinos General Manager Matthew Mingrone and Marketing Director Renee Garcia surprised over 200 veterans during breakfast at the Elks Lodge.

In a statement, the Founder and Board Chair of Honor Flight Kern County, Lili Marsh said:

Well thank you, doesn’t even cover what this does for us. We’ve never even come close to receiving a donation like this. The thanks to give to Eagle Mountain and their patrons and anyone that’s been involved in putting together something of this magnitude, there are just no word but thank you but that doesn’t do it justice. This check will probably put 70 Veterans on a plane to Washington D.C. and it’s an unbelievable gift that’ll touch the hearts of so many people and change so many lives. As every flight does, they all come back different people.
