BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — Farmers and ranchers are working with lawmakers to pass legislation to fund repairs and upgrades to California’s water infrastructure.

Senate Bill 559, from Senator Melissa Hurtado, would provide more than $300 million in repairs on the Friant-Kern canal and other projects across the central valley.

The California Farm Bureau supports the improvements.
