BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Houchin Community Blood Bank is asking local community members to donate blood, platelets, or plasma starting Nov. 23 - 28, where all successful donors will have the opportunity to pick a mystery box that contains a gift card of up to $500.
This incentive will be offered at both donor centers and mobile blood drives.

Donor center hours: 
 Nov. 23, 24, and 27: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. 
 Nov. 25: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
 Nov. 26: closed. 
 Nov. 28: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., mobile drives. 
 Von’s Riverlakes, 4500 Coffee Road, Nov. 23: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
 Dewar’s, 11320 Ming Avenue, Nov. 28: from noon to 5 p.m., a free pint of ice cream with a donation.

Blood donors must be in good health, weigh 110 pounds, and be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with a parent or guardian's consent. A photo ID with a date of birth is all that is needed.
