BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — In an effort to get more people to donate blood Houchin Community Blood Bank is hosting a party and it's going down today.

Houchin is teaming up with the Seven Oaks Living magazine to host their 2nd Annual Blood Drive Party. The party is set to take place at the Houchin location on Bolthouse Drive. The community blood drive starts at 4 p.m. Thursday and runs until 7 p.m.

And Hakuna Matata means "no worries" and Houchin doesn't want you to have any worries about donating blood at another blood drive taking place today.

They will be hosting a drive at the Delano Regional Medical Center. If you donate you'll get a t-shirt with the Hakuna Matata logo.

Of course, that logo inspired by The Lion King. It reads "blood donation -- it's the circle of life."

That blood drive will be at Delano Regional on Garces Highway running from 11 a.m. Thursday morning until 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
