Grab your furry loved ones and head to Northwest Bakersfield this week for a free microchipping event. The Pet Matchmaker Rescue will be hosting the event starting on Wednesday.

The non-profit is holding the free microchipping and fundraising event in the parking lot next to Freddy's Frozen Custard on Calloway Drive.

The rescue said they want to keep your animals from getting lost this holiday weekend as fireworks may scare them.

The event will be Wednesday starting at noon until 8 p.m. in the evening. And Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
