As we approach the wildfire season the American Red Cross is in dire need of volunteers for the Tehachapi and the Kern River Valley areas.

Red Cross is looking to add 200 new volunteers to serve as disaster responders this wildfire season. They will be hosting a virtual volunteer fair next week for potential disaster responders.

According to the Red Cross website, the organization "will need volunteers to help support emergency shelters by staffing different areas including reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information collection and other vital tasks. We have both associate and supervisory level opportunities available."

The volunteer fair is Wednesday, July 22 at 4 p.m. You can register online.
