Brad Paisley and Kimberly Williams Paisley break ground on nonprofit

Country music star Brad Paisley and his wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, broke ground on their new nonprofit "The Store."

The grocery-like store will allow people to shop "with dignity" for food and other necessities .

Paisley broke ground in a big way with with a backhoe and a cowboy hat rather than the average shovel and a hard hat.

"As you can imagine where you place this [non-profit] is important and right at this age of where gentrification is happening. There’s people being squeezed-out a little bit in this area. It’s just the perfect place. There’s a bus stop right there," said Paisley.

The Paisleys partnered with Brad's alma mater, Belmont University, to help the under-served in Nashville. While, he touted the school's positive impact on his life, he said some things you can't learn from books.

"You don’t learn necessarily things in a textbook. You can read statistics on a hunger or you can read everything about this subject and never necessarily have it hit you in the heart like watching someone walk through this service which is hopefully what’s going to happen as a student is volunteering here," he said.

The construction site sits next to the Belmont Ministry Center.
