Singer John "Cougar" Mellencamp is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, actress Meg Ryan.
Ryan announced the engagement on Instagram Thursday, with the caption "ENGAGED!" and a drawing of the two of holding hands.
The two have dated on and off since 2011, according to People. This will be Mellencamp's fourth marriage.
Mellencamp got his first taste of success about 36 years ago. His album, American Fool, shot up the charts with the hit singles "Hurts So Good" and "Jack & Diane."

Mellencamp is from Seymour, Indiana. He still lives and works in Bloomington.
