BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Here's a sweet way to cool off today. The Kern County Sheriff's Office is welcoming the public to join them for a free custard during their annual Cone with a Cop.

The event will be on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers at 2649 Calloway Drive.

Ashley South with the Kern County Sheriff's Office said Saturday's event will also address special needs in the community because of Autism Awareness Month. They will talk about their SMART 9-1-1 program as well as ways to help the blind and hard of hearing in emergencies.
