BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On the second Sunday of every month Happy Jack's opens its doors and serves breakfast and lunch. The four decade old burger stable in Downtown Bakersfield is normally closed on Sundays. But, one Sunday a month they're cooking up food to help the Ronald McDonald House.
Kern County's Ronald McDonald House helps local children and families in Kern County. Proceeds from Happy Jack's Second Sunday goes towards the local branch of the nationwide charity organization. Ronald McDonald House.
The breakfast tradition started in June 2016. On average a second Sunday about 100 guests will dine in, making about $2,000 for the Ronald McDonlad House. Happy Jack's uses regular staff as well as recruits local high school students to volunteer to keep up with the breakfast rush. 100% percent of the food's bill goes to the Ronald McDonald House, while the tips go to the staff.
The next Second Sunday Brunch will be Sunday March 10th. Happy Jack's is located on the corner of 20th and G Streets. They will be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and only accepts cash.
