Bakersfield firefighters rescued a man trapped in a south Bakersfield canal shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday evening. BFD says the man was riding his bike along the canal near S. H Street and Berkshire rd when he fell into the water. He was pulled from the canal, and was taken into an ambulance as a precaution. It's unclear what extent of injuries they man may have suffered. 

Crews on scene say the current was so strong they have not been able to locate the mans bike. BPD and fire crews are still on scene, continuing their investigation.
