Officials rescue three people from Kern River at Lake Ming

BAKERSFIELD, CA. — The Kern County Fire Department, Kern County Sheriff's Office and the Bakersfield Fire Department responded for a rescue at Lake Ming Saturday.

Officials arrived just before 1 p.m. and found two men and one woman stuck on an island in the Kern River.

According to fire officials, they were swimming without life jackets and got swept away by the current in the river.

All three people were safely rescued and there are no reported injuries at this time.
