The Kern County Fire Department rescued a horse stuck in a ravine Saturday morning.
According to a post by KCFD, crews were called out to the Red Rock Canyon Recreation Area for a fallen horse.
When they arrived, they found the rider and a companion who said the horse fell into a ravine and was unable to get out.
Firefighters and park rangers said they hiked almost a mile to get to the horse. With ropes and teamwork, they were able to successfully get the horse free.
The owner said the horse suffered minor injuries and was able to walk back to the campsite.
