KERN COUNTY, Calif. — For the first time ever, the regional event, BOOtopia, will be held near California City this month.

According to event organizers, the original YOUtopia is San Diego’s annual event celebrating the culture and principles of Burning Man offering many activities including theme camps, costumes, performances and more.

"YOUtopia is part of a long tradition of bringing the magic of the playa to the rest of the world while also celebrating the vibrant creative and communal elements of San Diego and the surrounding areas," the siteexplains.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office is requesting that the Kern County Board of Supervisors approve an agreement with Wastleland World Inc. and San Diego Collaborative Arts Project to provide an amount, no to exceed $15,734, to cover costs for law enforcement at the event scheduled for October 23 through October 26.

BOOtopia will take place on the property located in the Arial Acres area of East Kern County near California City.
