Are you getting ready for the upcoming shopping season? Getting ready to hit all the latest Black Friday deals to get the best bargains? Getting ready to break out the credit card to pay for it?
Well if you are, then it's very likely you will still be paying for it this time NEXT year. According to a survey conducted by WalletHub, 35 million Americans are still paying off debt leftover from last year's holiday season. That may explain why 27 percent of consumers plan to spend less that year than they did last year. Of course, the spent less in 2017 then they did in 2018, so it might not help.
Despite all the Black Friday sale hype you see out there, it appears most Americans aren't buying it. WalletHub found that 52 percent don't think Black Friday sales are anything special.
And though they get a bad rep for being a lazy gift, if you aren't sure what to buy someone consider a gift card. According the WalleHub study, 32 percent of Americans say gift cards are what they want the most, followed by electronics at 30 percent.
