BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Cal State Bakersfield's Engineering Program has made headlines for how well it serves low-income students.

US News ranked CSUB 22 out of 113 schools for its social mobility in the top public schools category.

This was the first time the report included that category, which recognizes how well colleges serve low income students.

CSUB was also ranked 66 of 128 schools in the overall ranking of Western Region Schools.

In August, CSUB was ranked number six as best bang for the buck in the west and the school's graduate program was ranked 17.
