If you're still hanging onto a Payless gift card, you should head over to a store Monday.

March 11 is the last day to use gift cards.

Payless filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month. All 2,500 locations of the shoe store will be closing at the end of the month.

The Gap, Victoria's Secret, Gymboree, Charlotte Russe and Tesla are also closing stores this year.

Almost 5,000 store closures have been announced since January.

But don't worry if you miss the deadline to use that Payless gift card.

There are various websites where you can buy and sell gift cards, such as Cardpool.com , Raise.com and Cardcash.com. You won't get the full value of the card but you may recoup some of the value.
