Health organizations to host support groups for Valley Fever patients, family

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Several Kern County health organizations will host upcoming Valley Fever support groups for patients and families impacted by the disease.

Valley Fever, is an illness caused by a fungus and people can get exposed by breathing in spores of the fungus.

According to health officials, the severity of Valley Fever can cause patients to feel isolated and experience depression.

The Valley Fever Institute at Kern Medical Valley, Valley Fever Americas Foundation, and Valley Children’s Hospital will host the special clinics listed below:

Valley Children’s Eagle Oaks Specialty Clinic
First Tuesday of every month at 3:30 PM beginning May 7th 12500 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93314

Kern Medical Room #1058 at 5 pm (Park in A Wing Lot)
The Third Tuesday of every month, beginning May 21st 1700 Mt Vernon Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93306
