Fingerlings: Off-brand versions of popular toy could catch fire

Fake 'Fingerlings' sold through Walmart could be dangerous

Fingerlings are one of the hottest toys this holiday season, but some customers who purchased them online through Walmart are upset.

Fake versions of the Fingerlings were sold through a third party on Walmart's site — and these "fake" toys apparently aren't made to the same standards as the original Fingerlings.

Authorities say they've seized counterfeit toys with lead in them and electronics that can catch fire.

When purchasing Fingerlings online, look for toys made by WowWee — they're the company that originally manufactured the toys. Manufactures of fakes toys include Happy Monkey, Fun Monkey, Finger Monkey, and Baby Monkey.

Also, be on the lookout for product pages that used improper grammar and spelling errors.
